Central ENgineering Company

Cenco International’s US factory was first incorporated as Central Engineering Company in 1958, in Minneapolis USA.

Cenco was then privately owned and started its activity on the large commercial turbofan testing segment, with customers such as Northwest Airlines for which the first Boeing 747 class engine test facility was supplied in 1969.

Cenco supplied one of the first 150,000 lbs thrust stand in 1991 to American Airlines TAESL and has supplied over 100 thrust stands and 600 engine adapters!

After various private ownerships, the company was purchased from Pratt & Whitney by Techspace Aero in 2003.
Techspace Aero then created the Cenco International Trademark, in order to regroup under the same organization its own Test Cell Engineering activities with Cenco Inc’s.

Techspace Aero’s Test Cell Engineering

Techspace Aero created its Test Cell Engineering (TCE) division in 1961 in order to design, operate and support its 4 in-house test cells.

These 7 meter section test cells were first meant for production and maintenance testing of the F100 engine, and were then upgraded over the years to accommodate the change of activities of Techspace Aero, which included a number of new engine development programs, from military turbojet to small commercial turbofan and turboprop engines.

Techspace Aero’s TCE division then started to propose its expertise to external customers. TCE supplied a number of hush-houses to Air Forces in Europe and beyond from the 1980s, and was quickly recognized as a reference for the military market with turbojet and turboshaft / turboprop engine test solutions.

With the purchase of Cenco Inc in 2003, the European factory was quickly renamed Cenco Europe.

Cenco International operations started in 2003.

Both entities have developed significant synergies over the first years, including Management, Sales and Support, Procurement, Engineering, etc. in order to finally operate as one company with a complete offer package to address Customers’ need with the best solutions.
